Thomas Edison (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9d/Thomas_Edison2.jpg) |
Thomas Edison was born in Milan, Ohio on February 11, 1847 and died in West Orange, New Jersey on October 18, 1931 at age 84. Edison created the light bulb because he was an inventor. These actions were important because if he didn't create the light bulb we would have a different system of light or maybe no light bulb at all. Also Edison created many other inventions so if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have as much as we do today.
Edison created the electric light in 1879. This meets my definition because he changed the world in a good way. If Edison was never born we would never have the same kind of light we have today. Also there's a chance that we would have no type of electric light other than the sun if Edison wasn't alive. Edison's creation had an impact on peoples lives because if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have the electric light and we wouldn't be able to see in the dark. "Anything that won't sell, I don't want to invent. Its sale is proof of utility, and utility is success." -Thomas Edison
Edison created the tin foil phonograph in 1877. This meets my definition because he changed the world in a good way by making this invention. This invention was unexpected by the public. He gained a lot of fame from making this invention. This Phonograph impacted people's lives, it let people listen to recorded music.
Thomas Edison made the world a different place. He created the first electric light. Almost everyone has some kind of electric light in their house today. If it wasn't for Thomas Edison we wouldn't have the kind of electric light we have today. This light bulb he created made him rich and famous. Edison worked until he was very old and died on October 18, 1931 at age 84.
