Thomas Edison

by Noah from Overland Park

Thomas Edison was born February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio. He was the youngest child in his family and had six siblings. He received a poor education, going to school for the equivalent of about two years of schooling today. In 1863 he got a job as a telegrapher, but then telegraphs went from being visual to audio. This wasn't good for Thomas because he was partially deaf. Thomas was already inventing things on the side but this change of the telegraph motivated Thomas to use his inventing to improve the telegraph.

In Thomas's life, he set the record for the most number of patents at 1,093. These inventions included the phonograph and the electric light. Thomas Edison is a hero because he selflessly used his brains to improve life for Americans. His inventions help make everyday life better and easier for the average person. These things make Thomas Edison a great hero and inspiration.
