Thomas Edison

by Cody from Kent

Where would the world of technology be without the help of Thomas Edison? Thomas Edison came up with many inventions and patents that revolutionized technology. Thomas Edison was one of the most important people in history; without him, technology would not be where it is today.

Thomas Edison came up with 1000’s of patents and inventions. Edison’s most famous invention was the modern light bulb. Edison built his first high resistance, incandescent electric light in January, 1879 in his lab in Menlo Park. Another invention Edison created was the phonograph. Next time you listen to a CD, thank Thomas Edison. August 12, 1877 is when Edison completed his first phonograph. The first recorded words were “Mary had a little lamb.”

Edison’s light bulb changed how people live. So many people depend on lighting for work. People can work longer, and at night with lighting. Think about all the things that are running day and night, most need people to operate them. With the invention of a safe and effective light bulb, people can work at night. Search and rescue missions are often in the dark, trapped under something or lost in a cave. With light bulbs came the flashlight. The kinds of bulbs in a flashlight are the design of Edison’s light bulb. We would be so less productive without the light bulb.

Edison really revolutionized technology. Many modern things we use every day came from Edison. Phones and lights are just a few things we use thanks to Edison. The world would not be able to be lit up and bright in the dark. Then we would not be able to talk to each other over long distances for even the simplest or most important reasons without the phone. You don’t realize how much we rely on things Edison invented.

Thomas Edison was one of the most important people in history; without him, technology would not be where it is today. Edison changed how we live and continue to live. He created, helped create and continues to inspire new things in the world of technology. Thomas Edison created the modern light bulb, created the phonograph, helped create the telephone and many other inventions. These are some of the reasons and how Thomas Alva Edison has been the change in the world.
