Terry Fox Web (I made it on inspiration (I did)) |
Terry Fox is my Canadian hero because he has done something so amazing that only a really disciplined athlete could have done. He got inspired by a guy who had amputated his leg just like Terry! My school and I got inspired by other schools and decided to do a Terry Fox run every year. If I were Terry I would be pretty frightened that I had cancer.

Terry Fox Portrait (I made it (I did!)) |
Terry had three siblings. Their names are Fred, Darrell and Judith also, his parents are Betty and Rolly Fox. Terry Fox was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 28th, 1958. Sadly he died a month before his birthday on June 28th, 1981. He went to university at Simon Fraser University, and Terry was buried in Port Coquitlam Municipal Cemetery, so if you want to say prayers to him!!!

Terry Fox Action Picture (I made it (I did!)) |
I chose Terry Fox as my hero because he was a really hard worker. Terry earned money for cancer research, in fact he tried to run across Canada, but unfortunately his cancer spread to his lungs and he passed away (R.I.P.). When you think about it that's pretty hard to do. Oh and don't forget he tried to run across Canada but with an artificial leg, you try doing that (not literally). It took him about 143 days and 5 373 kilometers and that cost him his life! On March 9, 1977 he found out that he had cancer. When Terry amputated his leg he had it done 15 centimeters above his knee cap and it was on his right leg. Terry Fox dipped his leg in the Atlantic Ocean. When he was running he ran on an average of 42 kilometers a day (26 miles). Sadly he stopped running in Thunder Bay.
From the information I have written in earlier paragraphs I think that Terry Fox is an amazing hero because of what he did. It would be already hard if you had all your limbs. I'm proud of Terry because he ran across Canada, and he also raised money for the Cancer Research Foundation.
