Thomas Jefferson (http://thepilver.wordpress.com/2009/07/page/3/) |
Thomas Jefferson wasn’t much of a speaker, but he was able to put all of his thoughts on paper; and make them into a reality that would soon change America. Thomas was born in Albemarle County, Virginia in 1743 and passed on July 4, 1826. Years after college, he was elected President in 1801, and resigned in 1809. His thoughts on America helped turn it into what it is today, by fighting for what he believed in and becoming President. During his Presidency, he made history in America with his great acts of courage and bravery.

The Declaration of Independence |
While in Congress Jefferson had to fight through his shyness to be able to help his Country with their struggles. He was always known as the shy person, but he still performed what he needed to do. People knew him as the “Silent Member” in congress because he did most of his work if not all of it, with pen and paper. Thomas drafted the Declaration of Independence and years later made it a reality for America. This is significant because he fought for what he thought was right even when half of the country disagreed with him. Even with his shy side of him, he had to fight to put that behind him because if he didn't that would hold back his truthful and powerful words and ideas he had to say. Thomas Jefferson was also a somewhat natural leader, when he didn’t even realize it. Once political conflict developed, Thomas soon became leader of the Democratic-Republicans, and fought against Federalist Policies. He stood up to them with bravery by his side and tried his best to make it fair for the people. Without his bravery who knows where America would stand today.

This shows the territory in which Jefferson bough |
Thomas Jefferson’s courage during his presidency is why he was one of our best and most famous. Thomas becoming President was one of America’s best moves for its time and beginning. He nearly doubled the size of our country by purchasing the Louisiana Territory in 1803 and then sent Lewis and Clark to explore our new land. This is important because we were able to scavenge and enhance our understanding of the earth, when we didn’t know much. Now that we had so much new land, we were able to conquer more of the world to become as strong and powerful as we are today, all due to Jefferson’s courageous purchase. Four years later, Thomas ended the Foreign Slave Trade in 1807. If he hadn’t stopped the Slave Trade, it could have continued for many years hurting our society more and more everyday. Slavery was a growing problem in America, it grew very fast in the farming lands because of its cheap but excellent well done work. Thomas quickly jumped on this situation when he had a chance to abolish the Slave Trade in 1807 to completely exterminate it. President Thomas Jefferson performed great accomplishments with courage, to help shape America into the amazing country it has now become to this date.

Founding Fathers (Thomas is on the left) |
His perseverance led America to become well built. If he had never become President or made the Declaration of Independence, we could be in a bit of a problem in today’s world. Thomas Jefferson inspires me as well as others because he cared for the people no matter what they thought of him whether it be good or bad. He fought for what he believed in and didn’t give up, and he did both of these things with bravery and courage hand-in-hand. This Founding Father is an excellent role model for all ages to helped us believe that we the people of America have a say in our country. He gives us an extra boost of courage when we need to speak up. He gives us an extra boost of bravery when we’re scared to do what’s right because negative things might be said about us. You know what happens when those two things are put together? Heroes are made, just like our Founding Father Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of the United States of America.
