My hero is my Mother Tanisha Keene. Born at Kaiser hospital in Redwood City, California, she grew up and was raised in East Palo Alto Ca. She graduated from Woodside High school while also attending nursing school and graduated shortly after. She is now working as a Nurse/Xray Tech for California Ear, Sinus, and Sleep Institute in East Palo Alto, CA. She is also the Medical Record & Sleep Apnea Coordinator. She has been happily married for 12 years but has been together with my dad for a total of 19 years. She has 3 children and 1 step son and a Yorkie she loves named Kai.

My mother has done a lot for me and I truly thank her for that. She has taught me how to me how to talk, walk, and everything I need to know to become a responsible young lady. She teaches me what's right from what's wrong and how to respect others and treat them the way I would want to be treated. She disciplines my sibling and me very well. And she works very hard to keep a roof over our head, food on our table, and clothes on our backs. She buys us the things we need and the things we want. But also reminds us that it's always better to give than to receive.

We attend Solid Rock COGIC in Newark, CA. where my mom is very active and does a lot of hospitality work. She cooks, serves, and helps out in any department that needs an extra set of hands. She is always trying to raise money for our church for different events or just for the upkeep of our church. She is also a prayer warrior online and prays for everyone. She teaches us that with God in our lives we can do anything.

My mother's hobbies are, spending time with family, watching movies, especially LifeTime and Dr.G Medical Examiner. She also enjoys taking pictures and being photographed. She did some modeling and has also done two hair shows for the product Rusk & Conair. She is an avid reader who loves to write. She has taken writing classes and attended several writers seminars and has also met quite a few famous authors and has spent time talking to a lot of aspiring/new authors. She has written 1 book and has now started working on her second & third book with the hopes of getting all of her work published very soon. She also enjoys learning new things, and is now studying Spanish.

Family is very important to my mom. She plans, organizes, and hosts our monthly family dinners/game nights because she wants our entire family to stay close and do different activities together. She also does cooking classes for children, she does hair, and she also has a website that she says is a place where people can voice their opinions and participate in different topics and discussions in her forum without being judged or condemned. My mother does a lot for others, often putting their needs before her own, and she has a big heart. That is why she is my hero.
