Thomas Lang with his drum set (http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/) |
Everyone in this world must have a hero. A hero means somebody or something that makes you stronger and gives you a motivation to seek a better life. And so do I. Actually, I have many heroes in my life. One of them is Thomas Lang. Thomas Lang is a professional drummer, frequent drum clinician, and a producer. He was born in Vienna on August 5th, 1967. He grew up in Stockerau, a small town in Austria. He lived with his sister named Sabine and his brother named Holger. Lang lived in London for ten years and moved to Los Angeles. He started playing drums when he was five. I think it was cool. He attended a private lesson for many years and continued his lessons in Vienna Conservatory of Music. After that he became an independent drummer. He had played on over 250 albums and played with a lot of artists such as Robbie Williams and B*witched. He had launched his solo albums called "Mediator" (1995) and "Something Along Those Lines" (2007).
Lang had many experiences with his drum play. He was teaching at the London Music School in Wapping, London. He invited Robert Trujillo to perform a session at the school. Because of his experiences and professionalism, in 2002, Meinl approached Remo to produce the "Thomas Lang Practice Kit". Lang had worked with many artists such as Geri Halliwell, Robbie Williams, John Wetton, Ozzy Osbourne, Bonnie Tyler, Lighthouse family, Boyzone, Ronan Keating, and many others.

Lang eventually became the bassist for his 2 part series of instructional videos "Ultamatives Schlagzeug I & II" which were originally released in 1995. Lang had worked cooperatively with the research engineered cymbal samples. They were launched in 2002, "Tom's Becken" were so well received that in 2004, because of that, Lang decided to work with Meinl once again to design "Fast Hats". Thomas Lang plays Sonor drums, Meinl cymbals, Vic Firth sticks, Remo drum heads, Roland electronics, Gibraltar hardware, Hardcase road cases, AKG microphones.
Thomas Lang now lives in Los Angeles with his wife and his twin boys. He is working in a highly anticipated follow up DVD to "creative control". He also is working on various solo projects and is launching a music inspired clothing line.
I adore him because he is so inspiring to me in how he has worked hard and how he explores his talent. He would study drums for many years in many places and he was not tired and bored about it. Because of that, now he becomes a world drummer with a brilliant talent on playing drums. I like his plays so much. I never can keep my eyes off while I watch him play. I think not all us can do like that. Besides that, now I also am studying drums. So I want to be a good student like Lang had been. Who knows, someday I can be a wonderful drummer like Thomas Lang.
