Tony Monterio

by Russell from Lagrangeville

Do you know what a hero really is? Well you could say that it is someone who saves a drowning child, or makes world peace, which are very heroic things! But really, anyone can be a hero. Because there really isn’t an official definition to a hero. A hero is someone that you look you to or admire. My hero would have to be my grandpa, Tony Monteiro.

Tony is a very, nice, kind, generous, hard working person. I picked him because I think that it is very nice and kind how he gets up EVERY morning, to go fishing, and provide his family with food that they love, (fish). When he was young, he also risked his life to go into the army to protect our country. After that he went into business and traveled around the world for the business. He knew that if he joined this business, then he would give him enough money to support his family.

But Tony is not just nice, kind and generous. He is also VERY talented and gifted at fishing! He got me into fishing so much and now I'm so obsessed with it! Like I said, he is a very good person and never gets put down by anything. He also taught me to have great patience in whatever I do. Especially when I and he are fishing. And when I fish by myself.

Tony has made an huge impact in my life. He has made an impact on my life because he got me into fishing that I am very good at and made me a better, calmer, and may more patient person. I greatly look up to him for that. Also he is one of the best fisherman in the southern NY fishing contest that is held all year long. I also compete in this, and out of my grandpa's generosity he pays for me to compete in it.

If you were to describe a hero, I think that my grandpa would be the perfect model. The qualities to describe him are nice, kind, and talented at a lot of things that he does. Now that I also have all of these qualities, I can blame it all on him. Tony Monteiro… MY HERO.
