Ty Pennington is a leader in many ways. He inspires others to help people in need. Ty teaches others to be helpful and volunteers most of his time to other people. He is very talented in the ways that he designs. This is why Ty Pennington is my hero.

Ty was born in Atlanta Georgia. His birth name was Tygert Burton Pennington. He was born on October 19th 1964. After building a three story tree house when he was twelve his building skills were noticed. He built sets for the show Leaving Las Vegas in 1995, and then he became known for his sense of humor when he starred in TLC’s Trading Spaces. He worked for Trading Spaces for four years as a designer and carpenter. ABC created a show that would transform needy families’ homes in seven days or less and Ty was chosen to lead the new design team. The show,Extreme Makeover Home Edition was only supposed to be a 13 part special, but the show was a huge success and extremely popular. This led to a deal with Sears, a sponsor of the show. In the years since the show started, Ty Pennington has been known to have fought off anything from pulled muscles, heatstroke and food poisoning to keep doing his job. In January 2005, while working on a makeover in his hometown of Atlanta, Ty had to have an emergency appendectomy, and ended up taping an episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition while in the hospital.

Ty Pennington is my hero because he is a great person. He gives up most of his time to his career of Extreme Makeover Home Edition to help others. He cares a lot about the people who he helps and tries to give them the best possible future that he can. In some of the episodes the show even pays for a college tuition or mortgage. Ty spends 240 to 260 days of his year traveling and transforming homes of people who need it most. He is an amazing designer and carpenter, as well as a great actor. Another thing about Ty that I think is inspiring is his work with many charities. One of the charities that Ty participated in includes a celebrity soccer match as part of a fundraiser for the Los Angeles Children's Hospital that helps bone marrow transplant patients. He is always inspired to do a great job, and inspires everybody else on the Extreme Makeover Home Edition team to try their best too. I think Ty Pennington is a great person and a hero.
