A hero to me is someone that you can rely on, someone that has done something that has allowed you to be able to trust them with your life. Most people see a hero as someone that saves your life, or has super powers, but to me a hero is someone that you are emotionally attached to because of the love they show for you.

I think having a hero is one of the most important things in life. By having a hero you have this sense of motivation, this urge to always do your best in everything you do so that you know your making your hero proud to be called your hero!

Tessa Scott is a sixteen year old girl that is dying from Leukemia, who is determined to live her last little bit life to the absolute fullest. In the twenty-sixth chapter Tessa takes Cal out on an outrageous shopping spree just because she knows that pretty soon, she won't be able to even speak to him. A few chapters later Tessa finds out that her best friend Zoey is pregnant, and she makes a promise to Zoey that she will live long enough to see her child born, even if she won't be able to hold the baby. When Tessa reaches her worst days in chapter forty-five, her brother Cal has the hardest time, almost refusing to let his sister go. This shows just how much of a role she played in the lives of others.

The Hero Hall of Fame, is a place of recognition for the worlds best heroes! Tessa Scott is a candidate for this year's new entrance to the Hall of Fame. Tessa, just recently passed away from Leukemia. She was diagnosed with this disease when she was just fourteen years old, and the disease took her life a little over two years later. Throughout her fight, she made a list for herself. This list consisted of everything that she wished to do before she died, which she knew would be happening very soon. Tessa has a younger brother Cal who looks to her with a lot of things in life. She gave Cal some piece of advice every day that she lives, whether it's about their parents, about girls to come in the future, or just about life in general, that he was to always remember even when she was gone. On the day that Tessa Scott passed away, Cal her younger brother almost refused to say goodbye to his sister. He knew that she wouldn't die until he said it was ok for her to go. Tessa's heroism is shown throughout the entire book, she is a true hero and should be elected into the Hero Hall of Fame!

Interview with sixteen year old Tessa Scott! "Tessa, how is it living with Leukemia?" "Things are a lot different, I have to do things with caution," says Tessa. "How did you feel when the doctors told you the reasoning behind all your random bruises?" Tessa tells me, "At first I really didn't want to believe it at all, I thought to myself, how could this have happened to me?" "What's the most ridiculous thing you've done because of something that you had written on your list?" "On the day that I had to say yes to everything, when I went into that lake. That had to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever done," says Tessa. "If you were not sick, would you have waited to do some of the things on your list until you were older?" Tessa says, "I definitely would've waited to do a lot!" "Were you happy to see your parents get back together?" Tessa tells me, "I was beyond happy to see them reunite, that is number seven on my list!" I ask Tessa, "What is a hero to you?" She tells me, "A hero to me is a difference maker with a few more strings attached!" Tessa, "Who is your hero, and why?" "My hero would have to be Zoey, my best friend because she is someone that I look up to, and someone that I know I can count on," says Tessa. I ask Tessa if she thinks she is a hero. She tells me, "I'm not really sure if I'm someone's hero, but I hope that I'm at least making a difference in my brother Cal's life!" "Do you think your book will change people's lives?" "I hope that it gives people a better view of those of us with internal diseases," says Tessa. Well Tessa, I don't want to keep you so I have one last question for you. "What are your hopes for your family after you pass away?" Tessa says, "I really hope that my parents decide to stay together if not for themselves, at least for Cal's sake. I hope that they will remember all of the good and bad times we had together! Lastly, I hope that they will come to be with me one day far away!"
