Imagine barely being born. Imagine having the doctor think that all you are is a dead baby and telling the mother to abort the baby. This is what happened to Tim Tebow. It's a good thing they didn't abort him because he went on to become one of my biggest heroes. Some of the things that make him a hero are how he was barely born, his charity work in the Philippines, and his football career.
First I should introduce Tim Tebow a bit more. Tim was originally born in the small town of Makata, Philippines. When his mother was pregnant with Little Tim the doctors were strongly recommending that she should abort the fetus because they thought all he would be was a "mass of fetal tissues". When Tim Tebow's Dad went for a business trip in the Philippines Tim's mother agreed to go with him even though she was pregnant. As a side note his dad was a preacher all his life. His father believed that there was something special about this small town of Makata. Apparently the special part of this town was that Tim was switched from a "mass of fetal tissues" to a real baby. Sure enough little Tim was born, but not very healthy and within the first week he could not leave the hospital because he kept losing weight not gaining it. Eventually he got enough strength to go home. This is what I believed to be his first heroic act of staying alive.

Since Tim Tebow's life was saved in the Philippines he has always had a soft spot for that place and he has shown that by all the time he has donated there. Between introducing new sports to the kids and starting a hospital there he has done it all. One of the biggest things he did there was that he went to different schools and had groups of kids gathered to listen to his speech on the importance of Christianity and respecting God. Also the hospital he started in the Philippines called The Tebow CURE hospital which has 30 beds and plenty of doctors. He has introduced some new sports to the kids and played the "usual" sports with them like soccer. This really is a huge part of his life and this makes me respect him that much more.

Another big part of Tim Tebow's life is, of course, football! Tim Tebow has had a long-ish career. His first major step in football was when he started to play football at Nease High School. Playing here created a major controversy because, since he was homeschooled, he was allowed to participate at the local high school sports program. So by that rule he originally played football at the Jacksonville Trinity Christian High School. When he played here the coach made him play tight end even though he asked to play quarterback. So he bought an apartment in Ponte Vendra, Florida and played for Nease High School as a quarterback. After his senior year of high school he received A LOT of full scholarship offers to various colleges and universities. He decided to play for his childhood favourite team, the Florida Gators. With the Gators he won 2 national championships, one as a backup one as a starter. Later he went on to be drafted 1st round 25th overall in the 2010 NFL draft to the Denver Broncos. He is now playing for the New York Jets. He has had an impressive football career and that is the final reason he is a hero to me.

Even though Tim Tebow was barely born he has still become an exceptional hero for three main reasons. His life, what he has done in the Philippines, and his football career. Tim Tebow is an exceptional hero and an even better person. His Christianity has helped him in life and football. I, as well as many other Tebow fans, am certainly glad his mom didn't abort him.
