Tina Tolentino

by Brittany from San Francisco

My cousin, Tina Tolentino, grew up in Long Beach, California. She was born in 1986. Her current occupation is a nurse. She spent many years of training and studying to become an excellent nurse as she is today!

One of the many reasons why she is my hero is because she has a caring heart for everyone. She has volunteered at camps such as Camp Kindle, which is a camp for children who are affected by HIV/AIDS. Tina was a counselor there and really helped the kids have awareness that each and every one of them is special and unique. Also, she participated in an organization called NAMI Walks. She raised money and awareness for people with mental illnesses. Tina participated in UCLA’s 26-hour Dance Marathon. The Marathon supports awareness of pediatric HIV/AIDS. In addition to caring for people, she also cares for the environment. Tina enjoys volunteering at beach clean ups because she feels that it is important to keep our environment and community clean. She knows how to care while having oodles of fun!

Tina Tolentino is a wonderful role model. I look up to her because of her hard work and determination. She has a very bubbly personality and tries her best at everything she does. Thank you, Tina, for being my hero!
