Troy Aikman

by Paul from New York

I have chosen a very special biography. I have decided to do Troy Aikman. Troy is one of my personal favorite quarterbacks (but I do like Eli Manning better though). Anyway Troy always had a positive attitude, even through some of the most difficult obstacles he had to face. He knew he had the potential to be one of the best known. Mr. Aikman had the determination to keep going especially the year the cowboys won the Super Bowl in 1993.

In Troy Aikman’s early life he grew up in West Covina, California and moved to Henryetta, Oklahoma. By the time when he turned fourteen everyone thought Troy was one of the best athletes in Oklahoma. He was also very interested in sports as a kid because he was inspired by all sports. Soon, at age seventeen he was on the poorest high school football team in the country. Sadly though he was injured and his team finished the year with another disappointing 2 and 8 record. The next year he came back to the team at age eighteen he came back and improved the team's record to a 6 and 4. Which made him somewhat of a local hero. As you can see Troy was very good at football from the start.

Troy had a lot of obstacles and always found a unique way of getting around everyone he had to face. Some of the toughest obstacles for Troy started off in college. He first went up against an injury in his freshman year at one of the worst football facility’s in the league, the Oklahoma Sooners. After that season he transferred to UCLA but spent most of the time on the bench as a third-string quarterback. Next season he was a junior and had the starting job for his junior and senior year having one of the highest ratings in NCAA history. After two excellent seasons in the NCAA, he was drafted to the Dallas Cowboys in 1989 and the team finished the season at a 1 and 15 record. The next year was a little bit better; the cowboys had a chance in the wild card position. In the last quarter of the playoff decider between the Philadelphia Eagles, Troy was hit hard in his right shoulder. Then he ended up on the bench for the rest of the game with a torn right shoulder. The Cowboys lost the game without Troy Aikman, which ended the Cowboys wild card position. After the loss you can see that Troy wasn’t always perfect.

Fourthly, Troy made a lot of contributions. He showed leadership and potential even in some of the worst moments in his career. He showed potential and leadership leading the cowboys to the super bowl in 1993. Next he made a couple contributions off the field. Firstly, he raised health and fitness centers for his hometown schools in West Covina, California. Next he made his own foundation to help benefit for children charities. After that he helped united way raise money for charities. As you can see Troy didn’t ever stop with the care and help on and off the team.

The fifth topic about my biography Troy Aikman is the awards he received. To start, he finished his NCAA career with one of the highest ranks for a quarter back in NCAA history. He next led the cowboys to the best record in the league that year when the cowboys won the super bowl. After the Super Bowl game in 1993 he was named the MVP of the game. Then he presented Country Music Awards after the super bowl. Then he was recognized for establishing scholarships for Henryetta High School students who needed financial aid for college. Now after the many things Troy did to help, you have noticed that he wanted young adults to reach their dreams and goals too.

Lastly, are Troy Aikmans’s traits. The first thing I saw about Troy Aikman was he was very contentious about others and learned that not everything was about football. The second trait I saw in Troy was he very passionate about football. You could tell that he was just inspired to football. Also he was looking to perform something extraordinary things and he knew even the impossible things are possible. And lastly Troy was athletic; he had a big strong arm to throw with, and the stamina to keep going.

This biography is very unique because Troy showed many characteristics in every thing he did in his football career. He knew that one-day if he kept going his Super Bowl days would come. Now I hope you know about a hero that never stopped going, even in the first couple years in his career weren’t the best but he never ever stopped in what he wanted to receive more than once in his career, the Super Bowl. I hope you’ve enjoyed this valuable lesson that if you want something GO GET IT and never give up.
