Tyler Okonma was born on March 6,1991 in Los Angeles.  He is better known by his stage name which is Tyler The Creator.  He is an American rapper, record producer, director, artist and fashion designer in Los Angeles.  He is best known for being the co-founder of a new rapping group called Odd Future.  He has rapped and produced many of the the new releases for the group Odd Future.  He has also made all the art for the albums of Odd Future.  In an interview, Okonma has said that he has designed all the clothing for the group and other merchandise.  He is currently signed to the English independent record company XL Recordings and his own record label Odd Future.

Tyler Okoma has a Nigerian father and an African caucasian mother. He claims that he has never seen his own father.  Tyler has spent his early life living in the southwest Los Angeles county communities of Ladera heights and Hawthorne.  At the age of seven he would take the cover of an album's case and he would create his own imaginary one, including a tracklist before he could even make music.  At the age of 14, Tyler taught himself to play the piano very well and in his twelve years of schooling he has attended twelve different schools in Los Angeles.

On December 5, 2009 Tyler self released his first album named Bastard. This album was eventually ranked number 32 on Pitchfork media's list of top albums of 2010. On February 11, 2011 Tyler released the music video for "Yonkers " which is the first single of his second album which is called Goblin.  It was released on May 10, 2011.  This video has received a lot of attention from several online media outlets.  After he released his song "Yonkers " he signed a one album record deal with XL recordings.  On March 16 Tyler and Hodgy preformed Sandwiches and Yonkers on 2011 Woodie awards.
