A HERO is someone who you look up to and doesn't need to be famous.

The reason why I have chosen Tanja Romano as my hero, is because I admire what she has achieved in skating, especially freeskating and that she never gives up no matter what.  She has set the standard I aspire to.

Tanja was born on the 10th January 1983 in Trieste Italy.  She started skating at the age of five, I started skating at the age of 3 and I am now 8. Her sports club is called Polet Opicin.

Tanja won ten gold medals in a row at World's skating competition, then on her 11th World's competition she came in 2nd.   She worked hard for the next year, which was 2010 in Portugal. After her two minute short routine she was coming 2nd. Then she skated the 4 minute long programme and won her title back. I know this because my mum judged her.

I think this was amazing and shows she must have worked very hard to do this.  Her coach is Mojmir Kokorovec.  He came to New Zealand in February and I had a seminar with him.  I am super excited to be able to hopefully meet Tanja when I go to the World's in Auckland New Zealand, later this year.
