Tony Romo

by Devin from Williamsville

Tony Romo is a hero because of the work he does on and off the field. When Tony first became a NFL superstar he was going back & forth playing 3rd and 2nd string quarterback, and after a few years he still wasn't ready to become a starting NFL quarterback. In Tony Romo's 2003-2004 seasons he decided that he needed to step up and that it was time for him to become America's quarterback. Even though Tony Romo threw 4 interceptions, 3 touchdowns and 250 yards in the pre-season he still kept trying until he accomplished his #1 goal.

Tony Romo's early life was very exciting for him. Tony Romo was born on April 21, 1980 in San Diego, California. Tony Romo was the youngest child out of Ramiro & Jan Romo. When Tony Romo first started his college life he went to Eastern Illinois as a redshirt for the football team. Coach Bob Spoo had considered moving Tony to tight end but remembered that Tony was undersized and never really had great speed. While Tony was in college, he worked hard and got better. Later on in his college years, he won the Ohio Valley Conference Award. He won that award by throwing more than 2,500 yards and 27 touchdowns. Tony also got the Walter Payton Award by throwing 2,950 yards and by throwing 33 touchdowns.

Tony had many accomplishments and awards for Tony Romo that helped him become successful. In 2006, Tony Romo won the Galloping Gobbler award on Thanksgiving Day. On the same day he won the Thanksgiving Day Award for having the best game out of all of the rest of the players. Also Tony Romo also set the record for the Dallas Cowboys by, throwing at least one touchdown every game and now has the record of 31 touchdown passes. As you can see Tony has some great accomplishments.

Tony had some challenges as a quarterback. First, Tony had to learn how to become an all-star quarterback. He had to work very hard to become the Dallas Cowboys franchise quarterback. Another challenge for Tony was to take place somewhere serious. Third, Tony was in college and, he had to be a good student to become anything special in the football world. The way Tony Romo became the Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback was by working harder than others & he kept trying and, as he is quoted in saying, "Hard Work Pays Off"!

Tony Romo has three quality traits that helped him become successful. First, Tony is a hard worker because he always keeps trying until he is able to accomplish his main goal. And when Tony Romo says, "Hard Work Will Lead You to Success," he means it. Second, Tony Romo is to keep trying &, to never give up. The last trait for Tony was to believe in himself. If Tony didn't believe in himself he would still be on the bench. Tony's traits helped him and could help others.

A young person could learn something from Tony Romo. First, Tony Romo worked hard at whatever he was doing. The second lesson a young person could learn from Tony Romo is to trust and believe that someone else could make something amazing happen as well you can. Lastly, a young person could learn to keep trying because if you stop trying you will never be able to reach your goal. Tony Romo is a hero to many young people.
