Thurgood Marshal

by Brandon from Carbondale

Thurgood Marshal changed our world a lot. Why? Well he made it right for African Americans to go to school with white people. That famous argument was Brown V. Board of Education. He also advanced the Civil Rights which I thought was really cool. All of those things are what he did to help others.

Thurgood Marshal was a good man. Marshal was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 2, 1908. Later in his life he was probably early 20 or maybe in his late 20 he married Vivian "Buster" Bury and they lived happily until she died a few years later. Thurgood died January 24, 1993. Most African Americans probably remember him today.

He was important to me because he allowed them to go to school with whites. He was also the first African American on the Supreme Court. One of the biggest things he did for them was eliminating stereotypes. Another big thing he did was balance the Supreme Court which made a difference in justice. If it wasn't for him Deion, Jalyn, Tyrell a bunch of other people I know might not be here. All of those reasons are why I chose Thurgood Marshal.
