Francisco (Tiririca) Everardo Oliveira Silva

by Otávio from Recife

When he was 8, he started to work on a circus at the town that he was born, where he was the clown and he had the nickname "Tiririca" since he was a kid.

Tiririca did presentations like a small circus, that was very common in the Northeast of Brazil, and he started to do many shows since there. Because of the big success reached at the presentations, some people of his town collected money and paid for the first thousand copies of his first CD, which made a selling record (more than 1.5 million copies), that's because of the many times that the CD was played at the regional radio stations, including Florentina. At the beginning, his CD was only distributed in Pernambuco, but after a little period of time his music was known by the whole country. The record label Sony Music (now Sony BMG) bought the disc and released nationally.

Tiririca also broke audience records at tv programs, which previously belonged to the group Mamonas Assassinas and another song that make a big success was: "Eu Sou Chifrudo".

The first CD also made much controversy, because he had a song "Veja os Cabelos Dela", considered by many as racist. However, the discs were confiscated. The radio stations have been banned to play Tiririca's song and he was sued for racism. At the end, he ended up being acquitted of the accusation.

In 1997, he recorded the second CD (Tiririca), with emphasis to the songs: "O Padroeiro do Ceará", "Índia" e "Ele é Corno Mas é Meu Amigo". After a period of time with no contact with the media, motivated by personal problems, he appears again in 1999 with his new third CD (Dança da Rapadura), released by the independent Indie Records. The greatest success of the CD was the song "Casado Com Uma Viúva".

Making many shows in the same year, he joined at the Rede Record, which was part of the cast at the humorous "Escolinha do barulho", temporarily abandoning his musical side. Later, he changed the network, going to SBT Television, which he acted in the program "A Praça é Nossa". After, he released another CD, Alegria do Forró, and returned to the Rede Record where he works at the program "Show do Tom", presented by the humorist Tom Cavalcante.
