Uncle Tony

by John from Wisconsin

My hero is Uncle Tony and he is a sergeant. He was born really poor and he always was poor. He also had to struggle through school because he has learning issues. So he made a choice to join the army so he can make some money and to help me out. He's right now out in Iran fighting to make it a better place for them. He made plenty of promises and one of them was to keep his troops alive at any cost like in a firefight. He also promised to the family to keep us safe so no one can harm us like if someone would threaten to hurt us. Which he did when I fell into the river and I didn't know how to swim at all. He saved me but at the same time when he saved me my arm got ripped against a rock and I had a big cut on my arm. So he rushed me to the hospital and saved me from getting a blood loss. After that moment he was my hero and I will never forget him. He is only 23 so he also feels my pain that I'm going through and he is helping me get through it. He is my hero because people really aren't respecting our troops and what they are doing, so we should honor them in keeping our country safe. Heroes can come in any shape or size but I think hero are also in the military. The reason why is because they have to deal with stuff that we don't have to deal with. Like how they could die and any moment. But even he dies he will still stay my hero. All I wish for is that he returns home soon and so I can talk to him again. But overall heroes are not made overnight, you have to find a person who changed your life and that is what a real hero is.
