The United States Army, one of the strongest forces known to man, are doing something right now that we all take advantage of. They are protecting our freedom, our liberty and our rights. They risk their lives for our freedom, so we don't have to. They keep us safe from foreign threats, terrorists, etc, and some of us just don't stop and thank them enough for their services. I am devoting My Hero project to salute, honor, and thank them for all they have done for me and my country. I am also honoring our veterans as well. For their services in previous wars so that we can be free today. A lot of my family has served in the United States Military; both my great grandpas have served under our flag in World War 2 to keep us safe from Japan and Germany. My cousin, Jimmy Alsop, has served as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War and has severe ear damage from the battles he fought in. I am saluting to my cousin, and my great grandparents for their services to keep us free.

The United States Army doesn't get enough thanks for their services. If it wasn't for them, we would have no rights, no freedom and no U.S.A. The United States Army dates back all the way to the Revolutionary War, and they fought against British forces which were stronger, smarter and bigger. But, they didn't quit fighting and would fight to their last dying breath to obtain freedom from Britain for every American, then and now. They got us our independence and constitution. They gave us our freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the right to bear arms, and the rest of the rights in our Constitution. The United States Army and even the other branches of military have earned respect, and definitely deserves the praise and thanks from every single American in our country.

My family knows first hand in serving in the United States Army, especially my great grandparents and my cousin. My cousin, Jimmy Alsop, was a helicopter pilot in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was involved in warfare and transport of troops and supplies. My cousin came back with damaged ears and his hearing has turned for the worse. He now needs a hearing aid in both ears, and even with the hearing aid, he still can't hear everything. He said that the helicopter and the battles were so loud that it gave him partial hearing loss. I salute my cousin for his services, and now he is on the Vietnam War Memorial at where he lives in Cody, Wyoming. He built and designed the memorial himself, not just for Vietnam, but for all the wars and all the branches of military, living, deceased, and MIA. Also, my pappaw, Joe McFarling, served in the Army during World War 2 and was a foot soldier for the United States. He survived the conflict, he came back with memories that would be hard to handle, but to me, he was a hero for serving in the worst war in human history. He went into the darkness of war and came back out with a Hero's welcome. I have several other family member that have served in the military, and I salute them all for their services.

The United States Army, throughout history, have been serving for this country and for the people in it. They have always shown valor, bravery, power and strength in every war and every mission they have been and fought in. Not just anybody becomes a soldier in the Army, it takes a lot of work, compassion, determination, and courage to become part of one of the strongest forces known to man. That's what I love about every soldier in the Army, they are one of a kind, they put themselves in harms way for people they don't even know or even seen before. They would kill and be killed for anybody in our country, because it is their duty and mission to ensure the America will always have its freedom. For example, the army fought at Normandy, one of the bloodiest battles in World War 2, and even though they were being shot at before they even had a chance to shoot back, they charged and fought until they won and beat Germany. There have been other accomplishments the army has achieved, but I do not have enough room to list or talk about them all.

The United States Army is my hero because of what they have done to ensure my freedom and rights, my family has served in the army and fought for me and my family, and how courageous, brave, and strong they are, and would die for anybody so that they can have their freedom. The United States Army has been around since before this country was called the USA. It is made up of the most special people in the world and have gave everything to their country, not to be paid or recognized, but to ensure the freedom of every man, woman, and child in the U.S.A. I salute all who have served in the Army for their courageous services, and a special thanks goes out to my family who has served their country and their family so that we didn't have to. So, take a moment, give thanks to all people who served in the Army because they have earned it because they're out there putting their lives on the line so you don't have to.
