Being heroic in this generation means to be brave, confident, caring, selfless, understanding and a lot of other good positive qualities. I believe that being a hero takes a lot of courage, I respect anyone who tries to help people with their problems or anything that they have. The qualities a modern day hero today in this time needs to posses intelligence. Intelligence is one of the most important because a lot of other people are smart, deceiving and manipulative and could trick you into a negative situation. That's why intelligence is good to have, to overcome difficult situations you have to be wise and put thought in every single step that you do. Intelligence is key.

My hero is Dr. Umar Johnson. Dr. Umar Johnson is a conscientious man who speaks to people and all types of people who are in need of it. He does not sugar coat things, he is straightforward. He speaks to young black kids who are in trouble and some who are not in trouble. He helps the community, people are so fond of him when they sew how he helps the people and they can actually see that he loves what he does and cares for the people. Dr. Umar doesn't have any kids and he is not married or in a relationship. Growing up in his neighborhood he was a victim various times for the color of his skin. Based on hid experience, he made a promise to himself to try and change the way people thought. Dr. Umar doesn't give up. Knowing how society is I know that he has come across some biased opinions. I admire the things that Dr, Umar is doing and what he did because he affected a lot of people. People are becoming more aware on what's happening in the world and he is bringing more people at peace. I'm glad that he gets recognition for the supportive things that he does. Dr. Umar helps all different people. He's been doing what he's been doing for nine years, helping people, he's been around the world and is well known. Hearing stories from him; you could tell he is a very selfless person. Dr. Umar is also brave, he has been exposing so many people and the government so many times. Most people that speak on what they know usually get killed, that's what makes Dr. Umar Johnson brave and selfless because he's looking out for the people and the people's safety. Dr. Umar is brave, selfless, determined, wise and very helpful. Dr. Umar is a leader and a good person to look up to.

Heroes should be people who affect many people's lives in a positive way. Some get the credit they deserve and some don't but what makes them truly a good person is if you keep going and don't care what anyone has to say. A hero doesn't have to look like Superman, for all you know a hero could even be someone who you would never expect. Respect is well acknowledged, and that is what Dr. Umar gets on a daily bases. Of course there are some people that will try to bring a hero down but that won't happen because a true hero is strong minded and won't let anything or anyone get in the way of their mission/goal.
