The Man |
Vincent Thomas Lombardi was one of the most successful head coaches in the history of American football. He was the driving force of the Green Bay Packers from 1959 to 1967, leading them in the capture of five NFL championships during his 9 year tenure. Following a one-year retirement from coaching in 1968, he returned as head coach of the Washington Redskins for the 1969 season. He owns a 9-1 record in the post-season.

The Vince Lambardi -Trophy |
Lombardi set the groundwork for future coaches to push their player to be only the best, and never forget that with his inspiring word that he would be the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner of the Super Bowl. To this day we still honor and remember the winner of the Super Bowl with, of course, the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Without this man it would be hard to know where Football would be, sure the excitement of hitting another or running in for the touchdown would still be there, but that could be tons of different sports.
Yet Vince Lombardi knew that there is life outside the game but that does not mean an individual could not take his words and use them in every day life. "Winning isn't everything, winning is the only thing" -Vince Lombardi. It doesn't matter what a person does in life as long as the person strives to be the best in whatever they do.
Thank you, Vince Lombardi, for giving words of life to athletes everywhere to be the best in whatever we want to be.
