Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill

Winston Churchill, he’s a great man, a hero in every way. He fought bravely in WWI, showing what he can do in tough situations. In WWII he was a mastermind behind the Allie’s strategies, helping us greatly in the war. Finally, he was a great political figure until about 20 years after the war. These are just some of the things he did.

Churchill fought bravely in WWI. This was part of an extremely interesting early life. However in this war he fought and lived through this time of life with bravery and cunning. In the war he was a part of the 4th Hussar’s regiment of mounted troops and achieved the rank of 2nd lieutenant (Russell, Douglass, W). He did most of his fighting on the western front but this ended quickly, and so did his career, though it was eventful (Russell, Douglass, W). This also gave Churchill experience for WWII, and he would need all he could get.

Churchill was a mastermind behind beating the Nazis in WWII. Winston Churchill stood up to the Nazis, while the prime minister before him didn’t, this showed his leadership. Churchill also entered the war before we did, proving he was ready to fight the good fight. He was also great friends with our president at that time, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It was his idea to strike North Africa and Italy first, calling Italy “The soft underbelly of Europe”. Churchill’s soldiers even looked up to him as admirable. We probably could never had beaten the Nazis without him.

Winston Churchill is a major figure in Britain, even after the war. He stayed in office until 1964. In this time he was Prime Minister again. He wrote many books and even won the Nobel Prize for literature (Frenz, Horst, W). At his age, it was heroic that he even stayed in politics. When Churchill finally passed away, it was from a stroke in 1965 at 90 (Capps, Ryan, W). He had only been a year out of politics. He was a great man, and I’m sure it was a saddening day when he died. Winston Churchill truly did good for this world.

Winston Churchill was truly a hero in his time. He fought bravely in WWI, was a mastermind leader in WWII, and did many literary achievements in his later career. Even Winston Churchill, the name itself has a history dating back to the British civil war (Wikipedia, W). This shows his importance in another way. All of this points to one thing, Winston Churchill is a remarkable man.
