"Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one," quotes William (Bill) H. Gates, one of the richest men in the world. Bill Gates is the chairman of a world leading company, Microsoft Corporation.

Bill Gates was born on Oct. 28, 1955, he grew up in Seattle. His father was a Seattle attorney, and his mother was a schoolteacher. Gates attended public school and private Lakeside School. There, he discovered his interest in computer software at age thirteen. Gates was shy and unsocial, making him an unlikely candidate for the richest man in the world when he grew up. It looked like he was going to be an average Seattle attorney, just like his father.

He entered Harvard university as a freshman,where he lived down the hall from Steve Ballmer, now Microsoft's chief executive officer. In Gates' junior year, he dropped out of Harvard to devote all his time and energy to Microsoft.

Bill Gates married Melinda French Gates, and they currently have three children. They started the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and they donate millions of dollars each year. I think Bill Gates is my hero because of this foundation. Even though he has so much work each day, he still takes time out to help the needy. That's what I hope to be like one day. I may not necessarily be as rich as him, but I know that I will donate a lot of money to the poor.

Now, as many of you know, Bill Gates has dropped to third place for the richest man in the world. It is suggested that that happened because of Microsofts' offer to buy Yahoo. I think Bill Gates is a very good person. He will always be my hero.
