Whitney at a Kohls event (http://beautysweetspot.com/celebrity-interview-wit (Jeannine Morris)) |
When I was younger, I used to watch a show on MTV. It was called the Hills. I came across a character, Whitney Eve Port. I really loved her. Whitney was one of the main characters on the show. She also narrated and told storylines throughout the series. As soon as I watched the show, I fell in love with her at first sight. What attracts me about her is that she is so sweet and supportive. Since it was a reality show, all of the cast members were friends. Whitney was always loyal and sweet to everyone she met and talked to. Since I was young, I've always been able to put outfits together and match them very well. Like Whitney, I love everything about fashion. Her job is my dream career.
According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, most fashion designers have a bachelors's degree. Usually employers hire creative and thoughtful people. You would have to have a good understanding in the job too. Fashion designers earn $62,860 per year. The same source listed some related jobs to fashion designing like retail, apparel companies, design firms, and manufacturing establishments. Similar jobs include apparel and retail. Some fashion trends that she promotes on her fashion line are blazers, different types of sweaters including leather sweaters, and many more varieties to choose from. According to Vogue.com, some of the latest trends are that logo tees are becoming the mainstream item to wear! Also, floral print is exploding onto the catwalk and is seen everywhere. Black and white are the two colors that go with everything and is always in style.
According to the website, Celebbuzz, Whitney grew up in Los Angeles, California and attended Warner Avenue Elementary School as a child. She was her 5th grade class president. She then attended Crossroads School all the way through middle school to high school. In 2006, she became one of the main cast members in the MTV show, The Hills. In the first season, she and her friend and cast member, Lauren Conrad, helped with internships for Teen Vogue. In 2007, she graduated from University of Southern California and with a degree in gender studies. Afterwards, she interned in Women's Wear Daily and W magazine. According to Wikipedia, in the third season of The Hills, she was added as the west coast fashion contributor for Teen Vogue. She then left in 2008. In late 2008, Whitney and Lauren began to work for Kelly Cutrone in People's Revolution. She then started her own fashion line, "Whitney Eve" in March of 2008. She accepted a position in the MTV series "The City" where she would have to move to New York. What makes her so successful is that she is very kind-hearted and loyal to her surrounding workers. She's hardworking and devoted to what she's directed to do and what she wants to do.

Whitney has been designing clothes for society and the majority of girls. She created her own clothing line, "Whitney Eve", in March of 2008. According to Looking To The Stars website, she supported the charities and foundations of American Cancer Society, Autism Speaks, and she has supported Reality Cares. On May 26h of 2010, she attended and supported the Autism Speaks event. She also supported causes of AIDS and HIV, Cancer, and Mental Challenges. I think that other fashion lovers like me look up to Whitney and want to follow her career.
In order to follow in Whitney Port's footsteps, I will have to have a plan to get me ready for my future jobs. At Capistrano Valley High school, I will shoot for the best grades I can earn. As a junior and senior, I will take an ROP class in fashion design. I will also take an art class. For math, I will take geometry to help me with skills like measuring how much I need to crop clothes or sew new items. I will apply for a job at a clothing store to see what kind of clothes I would like to design. When I graduate, I will go to a community college which is Saddleback College for 2 years and then I'm planning on going to a fashion college in Los Angeles called Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandizing (FIDM). I will major in fashion design. This plan will help me succeed in my future and follow in the footsteps of Whitney Port.
