My mom and I at the SF MOMA (Wendi Ross (Sam Holzer))

From the outside Wendi Ross just looks like a regular mom, but to me she is so much more, she is my mom and my hero.  She is a dedicated, kind-hearted, accepting and caring woman who is always very generous and giving.  She also tries to live by good morals and help out her community as much as possible.

Mrs. Ross was born in, and grew up in Hollywood, Los Angeles to Karen Symonds and Ric Ross.  At age eighteen, Mrs. Symonds dropped out of high-school because of different circumstances.  She returned back to school and graduated from high-school, graduated from college, and went on to earn her Ph.D. Mrs. Ross thinks of her mom as an inspiration because she valued education and she showed her how important education is. While growing up, Mrs. Ross had a dog named Max, and a brother named Michael. Mrs. Ross' brother, Michael, developed a rare muscle disorder called Dystonia at the age of 13. Both of Mrs. Ross' parents spent a lot of time at the hospital but through that process she tried to stay positive and work really hard in both school and life. When Mrs. Ross was 13 she had her Bat Mitzvah (which is a religious event in the Jewish culture in which a 13 year old boy or girl must read from the Torah) she still is very involved at her Temple and tries to show her children how important the Jewish culture is.  After her parents divorced, Mrs. Ross' mom remarried and she gained five new step brothers and sisters. She now resides in Roseville, California with her two kids, Sam and Hannah (who she refers to as "the best kids in the world") and their dog Sunny. Mrs. Ross is a lawyer at the public employment relations board and in her spare time she likes to walk her dog, read, and go see musicals.  Mrs. Ross supports the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, the Leukemia Research Foundation, because she has lost someone very close because of it, and Food for Families.

Because her two kids are involved in a variety of events, she spends most of her free time volunteering. She has also volunteered at track events, Student government events, Girl Scout and Boy Scout events, and volunteers at dances or other school- run activities.  She has worked at snack bars, sold food, and traveled to different schools to judge other students for her son's speech and debate team.  Mrs. Ross says she volunteers at the different school events because she is so appreciative of the schools and teachers for providing education. She also tries to be active in her kid's education, and help not just her kids but also the other children who attend the school by volunteering and sending money to the school district. Mrs. Ross says that she always tries to work hard and give 100% effort in anything she does. She also tries to be kind, help her community, and live by good morals.  Mrs. Ross tries to live her best life possible by trying to have a really positive outlook on life, treat people as you want them to treat you, and just try to be an overall nice person.

My mom is my hero because she inspires me to do my best, and try my hardest, and I know she will never be disappointed in me if I did the right thing and tried my absolute hardest. She inspires me to live a positive life and be the best I can be. When my mom volunteers I am proud of her and she taught me that it is important to help your community because anyone can help, and every person makes a difference. My mom always tells me how proud of me she is, and how I am such a great kid, so that I know I feel appreciated. My mom is a hero in my eyes because she does whatever she possibly can to help benefit the lives of her family, and her community. She cares about the world and she always has a big smile on her face. My mom is a very selfless person and always tries to help others in any way she can.

My mom is someone who I can look up to, and someone who inspires me to do my best. She is such a selfless person who is always giving. She is kind and compassionate to everyone. And she always inspires me to do my best on anything in my life. She is a funny, happy, and kind-hearted person who will always stand up for what she believes in. I am so grateful that she is my mom and my hero.
