Trudeau Family

A hero is a person with many characteristics. A hero is willing to help a stranger or loved one in a time of need. A hero is always willing to put someone else first and better another's life. A hero doesn't have to have supernatural powers, but must have a heart for life and be generous. My heroes are my parents for many reasons.

When I was seven years old I was put in foster care with my other two brothers. Although my biological family loved us, they couldn't take care of three more children. Then one day social services called Wayne and Lesa Trudeau to ask them to take us in for just a few days. They agreed and we were sent to their home not knowing that these strangers were going to be my new parents who loved me for just who I am.

From the first day that I arrived, they made me feel like I had been living there for my whole life. Even though my brothers and I were really scared, they gave it their best and succeeded. My foster parents were told the next few weeks that social services did not have a place for us yet, so they decided to take us in until social services could find a home. Then, months later, my social worker called and said they could not find a home for all of us. They would have to split my brothers and me up, but my parents told them no - that they would just have us in their home until something came up.

As time passed, our foster parents started to show more love and affection for us. They treated us as if we were their actual children. They gave us many things that we never had before. They took us on vacations, which, before that time, we had never left the tri-state area. Although many people labeled us as bad people because we were in foster care, they didn't.

Then around the age of ten our foster parents adopted us on August 24. That day was one of the happiest days of my life. I actually felt as if I were finally a part of a family. Ever since then my life as been great, thanks to my heroes that entered my life. So remember, a hero can be anyone who is willing to help change a person's life for the better.
