Wayne Gretzky

Wayne Gretzky is my hero because he inspires me and because I like hockey and he is one of the best hockey players there ever was. Wayne also always showed good sportsmanship and he never got down if he did something wrong on the ice, and if he ever saw one of his teammates mad because they messed up he would try to make them feel better.

Wayne Gretzky was a famous NHL hockey player. He has broken many records, some no one else has ever done. Wayne Gretzky holds the most records all-time of any hockey player. Gordie Howe was Wayne’s favorite hockey player growing up. During his first season with the Edmonton Oilers, Wayne established himself as a top-level player. The 1981 Canada Cup tournament was, for Wayne, one of the biggest letdowns of his career. He is my hero because he was an amazing hockey player and I like hockey.

Wayne Gretzky was born on January 26, 1961 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. He learned to play hockey because him and his dad use to play in their back yard rink a lot. When Wayne was just eleven he scored 517 points in a season. In 1978 Wayne was 17 and led team Canada to a bronze medal in the world junior championship. Wayne’s first professional career was with the Indianapolis Racers in the WHA. He was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 1978-1979. He also started the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers.

Wayne has played with the Edmonton Oilers, St.Louis Blues, New York Rangers, and the Los Angeles Kings in all of his NHL career. He spent three years with the New York Rangers, one year was with the St. Louis Blues, eight years with the Los Angeles Kings, and nine years was with the Edmontoon Oilers. That is a total of twenty one years playing Hockey and that is just in the NHL. That is a lot of years of hard work.

Wayne Gretzky is my hero because he inspires me to be like him and play like he did. He was one of the best and he always showed good sportsmanship. Wayne Gretzky is my hero because he inspired me to be a great player just like he was. Some people just wish that they were half as good as Wayne was. Wayne is the best Hockey player.
