Gerard's Younger Brother Mikey (http://img.photobucket.com /albums/v630/asoueaddict/mikey.jpg) |
Gerard Way is my hero because he is always so kind, not only to his bandmates and little brother Mikey but to the fans. He is not my hero because he's famous, he is my hero because I think he's a great, generous and amazing guy. He completed high school before he went to play in the band and he never gave up on his dreams. Look below for a little bit more about Gerard and My Chemical Romance.

Gerard Arthur Way was born in Newark, New Jersey on April 9th, 1977, but was raised with his brother Mikey in Belleville, New Jersey. His parents (Donald Way and Donna) cared very much for his welfare and safety. He has had to fight, in his teenage years, his long-time battle with depression, alcoholism, and prescription drug abuse. He got over that as soon as he reached his twenties and has been a role model that you can do anything, even if it is hard, when you put your mind to it.
Gerard co-founded the band, My Chemical Romance, when he was a young teenager. The bandmates involved in the first band were Frank Iero (still with the band), Ray Toro (still with the band), Matt Pelissier (former drummer but was replaced with Bob Bryer soon after)and Mikey Way (still with the band). He was always musically active during his teenage years and performed in many different bands with school friends.

In the early 2000's, My Chemical Romance signed with Eyeball records and made their first album, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love." The album was produced by Thursday vocalist, Geoff Rickly, which gave My Chemical Romance's first album a fair bit of attention. Enough attention was given so that My Chemical Romance was signed to a more major record label(Reprise)in 2004.
With Reprise they were working with Howard Bensen, a more well-known producer, to make their second album. Their second album, "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge," worked out better than planned. They had three hit songs over the years ("Im Not Ok (I Promise)," "Helena," and "The Ghost Of You") and show no sign of slowing down in their next years to come.
