Wilber Pan is an ABC (American Born Chinese) singer from Taiwan. He was born on 6th August 1980 in USA, and he will turn 26 this year. He performs with fresh, energetic styles and with a great sense of humour and so many female teenagers admire him extremely. He wished to be an great artist since he was young and also brought up his skills earlier. He is a multitalented artist. His talent in dancing, singing and composing rap songs, will route him to be a great artist. But before he became a singer, he was a VJ in Channel V Chinese, and he also took part in a Taiwanese drama series as a high school student. His job as a VJ opened his way into entertainment world.

His greatest desire is to be an international singer. To make it true, he participated in a Mandarin singing contest in Canada, when he was studying in one of the universities there. He made a different choice by singing Alex To's song, when most of the contestants selected Andy Hui or Jacky Cheung's. Unfortunately he didn't enter the second stage, and didn't win at all. But something good was coming up for him. He received a call from Channel [V] programme manager who invited Wilber for a voice test. When he went back to Taiwan during the school holiday, they had invited him again to Hong Kong. At first, no one knew him even though he appeared on 6 Channel V program. But he never gave up. He kept trying until he became famous like now. His job as a VJ increased his knowledge about music. He realized that his biggest talent is singing, so he tried really hard to become a real singer. He showed his ability in singing, and there were 4 recording companies that wished to acquire him, but at last he gave up the others with great conditions but signed up a contract in Universal Music.

Wilber already has 4 music albums. Gecko Stroll, My Microphone, Wuha, and Gao Shou. He wrote some songs in his 3rd and 4th albums. His songs are nice and ear catchy. He kinda tried hard to make his albums sell through tours, album promotions and small concerts, until he became ENERGY's opening act in their concert. Maybe there were some people that didn't like him. They even said that his voice was standard, and even that it wasn't suitable for singing. But once again, he never gave up and he didn't stop singing. Those insults made him even stronger than before, because he wanted to prove that he could sing well.

The lyrics from one of his songs, Wo De Mai Ke Feng or My Microphone in his second and same-titled album, told the story about his past and how he tried to survive. He said that this time around, he's determined not to let his hands slip off the microphone that was once figuratively yanked from him. He remembered the time he failed to prove himself in the small recording studio because he felt 'claustrophobic'. 'The microphone is like a metaphor for opportunity and people did take my microphone away. But I didn't give up and I kept on improving myself to get this second chance,' he said.

Maybe he isn't as famous as other male singers, but who says that he can't be a hero. It is not because he ever saved someone's life, helped his country, made an invention, became a social worker, or other heroic action. A hero is not defined by what heroic action he/she has done. Inspiring others, giving a new spirit, and becoming a good idol are also what a hero does. Wilber's willingness to try has inspired his fans, especially because he never gives up under any conditions, any barrier which prevent him from being success. He becomes a good example because of his hard work, perseverence, and humbleness. He influences his fans' lives.

And the other good side of him is that he is never arrogant or presumptuous because of his success. He never forgets those who had helped him. He treats his fans nicely, always gives them his best smile because he knows that he would be nothing without his fans. Wilber has good attitudes, it is proven by the fact that there were no bad rumours about him. That's why he can be a hero for other people, maybe not for everyone in this world, but for his fans who admire him the most, and other newcomers who are trying to survive in entertainment world.
