My hero is Yao Ming! He is 29 years old and he is from China. He lives in America now. His nickname is "little giant." He is 2.29m tall. His weight is 140kg. He was born on 9/12/1980 in Shanghai, China. He plays basketball in the NBA and CBA. He plays for the Houston Rockets. He is forward center position on the team.

His arms are 225cm long. He likes to play computer games, listen to music and read books. In CBA he played for the Shanghai Sharks His parents were also very tall. His parents also were basketball players. They played for China's national team. His father is 6ft 6in tall, his mother is 6ft 3in tall. Yao Ming was one of the first Chinese basketball players to play in the NBA. He was a 7-time NBA All-Star: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009. He was part the third team of the all-NBA team, in 2004, 2006. He won the TSN NBA Rookie of the Year in 2003, and was part of first team of the NBA All-Rookie team in 2003. Yao Ming started his career in basketball when he entered the junior sports school in his district of Shanghai when he was only nine. Yao never intended to play basketball. When he was 10 he was already 5'5." Yao joined the Sharks's junior team when he was thirteen.

Yao Ming makes me think about playing basketball. He makes me think I can do it. He is Chinese and I am Chinese. I am tall and he is tall too. He plays basketball very well.

I want to be more like Yao Ming. I can practice basketball. I can watch other people playing basketball. I can join a basketball team.
