Abraham Lincoln

The autobiography of Abraham Lincoln talked about his legacy along with his early years and through his presidency. He was well known for leading the U.S through its greatest crisis. He led the United States through its biggest crisis. He preserved the Union by defeating the Confederacy and issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, which formally declared enslaved people in rebellious states to be forever free, ultimately paving the way for the abolition of slavery.

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the U.S. He was born into extreme poverty and lived on the rough and unsettled frontiers of Kentucky. He spent his youth performing arduous farm labor to supplement his family's income and was largely self-educated.

He was abolishing slavery and had set millions of enslaved people legally free. He also signed the homestead act of 1862 which granted 160 acres to any adult who committed to farm it which enabled immigrants, ordinary people, and newly freed individuals to own their own land.
