Did you ever fly in an airplane across the Pacific Ocean with a woman pilot? I know a woman who was the first woman to fly across the Pacific Ocean.

Her name is Amelia Earhart. Amelia Earhart was born on July 24 ,1897, in Atchison, Kansas. She lived with her dad Edwin Eahart and her mom Amy Eahart and her sister, Murial. Amelia had a hard life with her parents. Her father Edwin was a alcoholic, so Amelia and her sister had to move to her grandparents' house.

Amelia was educated in private schools. Amelia saw her first airplane in a stunt-flying show. One pilot decided to scare the two friends, but Amelia did not run. She started to stare at the plane. From this moment on, she decided that she wanted to ride one of those moving flying machines. After she graduated from high school, she was given the opportunity to experience a plane ride. She saved up money for flying lessons until she received a pilot's license.

Amelia Earhart had many jobs. She worked as a nurse, social worker, pilot, clothing designer, magazine editor and writer, airline executive, and a professor. She also helped start the Ninety-Nines, which is a group of women pilots that still exsists today. She also worked as a nurse during World War I and World War II.

As a woman, Amelia accomplished many firsts in her life. She was also the first women to fly from Hawaii to California. She was celebrated throughout Europe and the United States.
