Arthur Compton

Compton was a hero primarily because of his contribution to science and education. He won the 1927 Nobel Prize in Physics, for his "Compton Effect". His studies proofed that electromagnetic radiation has properties of waves and particles. His test proved the existence of "Photons". His discovery became a decisively important stimulus for the development of the quantum mechanics.
