Carl Lewis was born on July 1, 1961 in Birmingham, Alabama. He looks like an athlete. He is my hero because he won nine gold and one silver medal in four Olympics.

His family was made up of former athletes. He was a very good track athlete in high school. His father was a football player, a teacher, and a track coach. His mother was a teacher and a track coach. He was a very good athlete in high school; he was the top-ranked high school track and field athlete in the country.
He was the first athlete to win two events at an NCAA championship and was awarded the AAU's Sullivan Award. He won three gold medals at the world championships in Helsinki, Finland in 1983. He went to the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games repeating the same mark Jesse Owens made 48 years before at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, winning four gold medals in four track and field events. He won two gold medals and one silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. He won two gold medals in the long jump and the 400 meter relay at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. He won his ninth and final gold medal in the long jump at the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia his fourth and final Olympic Games.
