Call for Entries: The MY HERO & Robert Shetterly Portrait Contest

Deadline: March 1, 2026

The MY HERO Project is proud to announce the Call for Entries for the MY HERO & Robert Shetterly Portrait Contest, inviting student artists from around the world to submit original portraits honoring everyday and extraordinary heroes.

This annual contest celebrates the power of art to recognize courage, compassion, and positive change. Students are encouraged to create portraits of individuals they admire—people who have made a meaningful difference in their lives, their communities, or the wider world.

All submitted works will be judged by Robert Shetterly, founder of Americans Who Tell the Truth, alongside the MY HERO Gallery staff, offering young artists a unique opportunity to have their work reviewed by a renowned artist and a global education platform.

Entry Guidelines:

  • Student artists may submit one or more hero portraits.
  • Any artistic medium may be used.
  • Each artwork should represent:
    • A person the artist admires, or A heroic act that has had a positive impact on the artist’s world or society.
  • Each entry must include:
    • A paragraph or more describing the hero or heroic act (this will be considered during judging).
    • The student’s age and/or grade level to ensure placement in the correct category.

Selected artworks will be featured on the MY HERO website and shared worldwide, highlighting the voices and visions of young artists who are helping to shape a more compassionate and just world through creativity.
