Vince Carter

by Dylan from Manitoba, Canada

Vince Carter is my hero; he is in a charity called NBA cares. He was born on January 26, 1977 in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was picked 5th overall in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors, and then he was traded to the Toronto Raptors. And then up until his trade on December 17, 2004 he was considered the best of the Raptors. His full name is Vincent Lamar Carter. He won the rookie award in the 1998-99 season. Then the next year Vince Carter was voted to the ALL-STAR team for the first time. And in the same year he got entered in a dunk competition. Vince Carter now plays on the New Jersey Nets. (2005-2006 season) NBA cares is a charity that gets together with kids and reads with them, sometimes even kids with cancer. In 2000 when Vince Carter was entered in the slam-dunk contest, the judges thought that his dunk was the best that they had ever seen. But for some reason he hasn't entered in a slam-dunk contest since. Vince Carter has been an ALL-STAR player ever since. He averaged 24.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 4.0 apg, and his shooting average is 38.9% from the three point line. Vince Carter is one of my favourite players in the NBA. He is 6 foot 6. He went to college in North Carolina. He also has been a pro for 8 years. Vince Carter puts a saying in my head that says if you have a dream and you want it to come true you have to work hard for it and you will have a good chance of reaching it and that is why he is my hero!
