Donna Caston

by Celina from Ortonville, Michigan

Donna Caston is smart, strong, and brave. She is a teacher, a trainer, and the best rider I have ever had the chance to meet. If anyone is my hero, it's Donna.

In 1985, Donna got a teaching degree in math. She taught for eight years. She was never my schoolteacher but for five nights a week, four hours a night, I learn and listen the best I can while I'm taking my lessons.

At "K" Farms in Ortonville Michigan, Donna is the main riding trainer. Her daughter, Lauren, helps out a lot now, too. Over 30 students, including myself, take lessons with her. Donna has been training at "K" Karms for 10 years and has made great riders out of many kids.

Donnna was first alternate for the 1988 Equestrian Olympic Team. Someday, I hope to be as good as she is. Soon, probably sometime in June or July 2005, I will be getting a new horse. I have to sell my two ponies, Maya and Sheera, in September. That will be one of the hardest things that I will ever have to do, for they have been my friends and companions for seven years. With Donna's help, my ponies' wonderful potential and lots of encouragement, I have excelled on the pony circuit. I now feel that I am ready for a larger horse.

Donna is a simply amazing person. She is the proud trainer at "K" Farms and a proud rider. Hero traits are all over Donna like they were put there with glue. She will be my hero forever and always.
