CHAYANNE

By definition, a hero is illustrious , a warrior, one greatly regarded for achievements and qualities, a chiefman in a poem, a story , and or in life.

My Hero’s name is Elmer Figueroa Arce, known by the artistic name “CHAYANNE”.

He has done many charity auctions, and he has helped a lot of people and touched peoples hearts by the actions he has done. He was born in Puerto Rico into a very large and poor family. At the age of ten years old he stared his career as a singer. He began in a boy band called “Los Chicos". Since he began he career, he has gained a lot of fame and a lot his fans’ heart , too. Chayanne is considered one of the most lovely “Latino singers” and a hero.

Chayanne admits that time tends to be his worse enemy. If there were 36 hours in a day, he would work more, dedicate more time to people, show his fans more loyalty, and of course, spend more time helping poor people, charity associations and AIDS associations. At 35 years old, Chayanne is very proud of himself and his long list of lifetime accomplishments, and the fact that he has helped so many people -- all of which have made his life more fun and more full of happiness.

Chayanne says that “ the worse moments are those of uncertainty, because as a human being you expectations about anything new, you wonder how the record is doing, you doubt how it is being received by the public -- but that’s normal.”

Chayanne has a career full of accomplishments. Chayanne, who is always smiling, has branded himself as a great composer. He has a personal touch that makes his music truly unique. In 2003, he won a “Latin Grammys on TBC”. In 1999, during his tour in Miami, he met a 3-year-old girl and helped pay for a surgery she needed.

Chayanne is also the founder of “ La Isla de Chayanne” which he also named it “The Chayfamily”. This an institution that is set up to help Nancy, a little Latino girl that needed a transplant. Some of the Charity programs that Chayanne has set up are “The Hunger Site”, a charity for breast cancer research and awareness, and “All Star Charity. Com”. All of these have been great successes. “ La Isla de la Chayanne” contribution was the largest ever received form a fan site. Chayanne is definitely “MY HERO” and man other people's hero as well .
