119369Daba Modibo Keita, double world Champion in Taekwondo.googleHistory will record that Daba Modibo Keita is the first African (and the only one to this day) to have been the World Champion of the heavy in taekwondo.

Daba has kept his 2007 trophy by beating in the final the South Korean, Yun Bae Nam, on October 14, 2009 during the 19th edition of the World Championships of the discipline in Copenhagen in Denmark.

It is in 1997 that the Malian public discovers the young fighter who is illustrated in the West African Championship in Bamako by winning silver medals. Two years later in Accra, Daba Modibo Keita won the bronze medal West-African championship before becoming the champion of Mali in 2002 and then in 2004.

His career is accelerating, and Daba Modibo Keita won three gold medals in the Open in Paris, the International Open Nantes and the Tournament of Picardie.

 The champion of Africa and Madagascar, Daba Modibo ends 2005 in beauty by winning its fourth Gold Medal to the Cup in the francophone world of Niamey.

119371Olympic Game World ChampiongoogleIn 2007, the 18th World Championships in Beijing, the colossus of 2.05 m and 110 kg, becomes the first African crowned champion of the world of heavy and the first athlete of our country to win a world crown. Thanks to  those achievements, he got the  the National Order of Merit giving by the President of Republic of Mali.

Daba Modibo is a role model to many young Malian. He showed to the young generation that with determination, commitment and hard work, we can achieve not only our goals, but also, impact our community and overseas.
