CALL FOR ENTRIES –DAN ELDON ACTIVIST AWARD – 2021 MY HERO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

LAGUNA BEACH, CA 09/26/19 – The MY HERO Project is looking for short films that inspire positive change through activism. The annual Dan Eldon Activst Award comes with a $500 cash prize for a filmmaker who calls attention to a change-maker. The 2021 Deadline is September 1.

Dan Eldon was a passionate activist and photojournalist, fearless in his quest to give a voice to those who needed to be heard. He told stories that others were unable to tell and was killed on assignment in Somalia in 1993. His mother and sister, Kathy Eldon and Amy Eldon Turteltaub, founders of Creative Visions Foundation, honor his memory each year by presenting the award through the MY HERO International Film Festival.

Last year’s winner was Educate Girls, by filmmaker Gabriel Diamond of the Skoll Foundation. Educate Girls is a story about heroes working to make education more accessible for girls in India. View the film and other past winners here.

The MY HERO International Film Festival is part of The MY HERO Project, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to sharing stories of heroes from all parts of the world. Winning films are featured on the MY HERO website (myhero.com), and enjoyed by a global audience.
