Determined Norphel

Let the ice melt and farmers sow,

Chewang Norphel always hoped so.

Often a subject of laughter,

Proved people wrong thereafter.

The idea of low altitude glacier,

Got him thinking like an expert engineer.

A man determined and strong willed,

Made the inhabitants of Ladakh thrilled.

The water was no more frozen like before,

Sowing in April was not a task anymore.

Did not surrender to climatic changes,

Norphel made the water available at all stages.

Fifteen glaciers designed till now,

The world is awe-struck with his know-how.

The Ice Man of India got awarded across the globe,

Nothing could stop him as he always wanted to do more.
