Dr. Sylvia Earle

I chose Dr. Sylvia Earle as my hero because she is someone who I look up to, with extreme passion for marine biology. Dr. Earle is known for her advocacy for ocean conservation, as well as having spent extensive time researching underwater life. Dr. Earle is also the founder of Mission Blue, a group dedicated to preserving the ocean wildlife, and has accomplished many admirable things like being the first woman to be chief scientist at NOAA. In my painting, I included fish to represent Dr. Earle’s love for marine biology, and a representation of the species of plant she discovered.
