His dedication towards the field allowed him to make a choice for a big and dangerous task. Mitchell also had extreme dedication with the navy because he stayed for almost 20 years. No other person could have achieved this even if they were a slight bit disoriented. Overall Mitchell possessed massive amounts of dedication in order to get through the tedious and extreme tasks that the work field provided for him.
Edgar Mitchell possessed bravery which made him excel in the workforce he was in. After spending 20 years in the military, Mitchell was selected to be in Project Apollo. Selected as one of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA's) fifth group of astronauts in 1966, Mitchell joined Project "Apollo," America's manned moon landing program. (Gale) From his long journey in the military, Mitchell wanted to pursue his his bravery even more by joining NASA. Mitchell had to discuss with himself the amount of work of what it takes to become an astronaut. He had to build up the courage and obtain bravery in order to do so. After staying dedicated and brave, Mitchell got offered a chance to venture to the moon. On February 5, 1971, Mitchell and Shepard touched down to a feather-light landing in the highlands of the moon's Fra Mauro region. (Gale) Mitchell possessed bravery as he accepted the offer of traveling to space. In order to do an extreme task, you need to be brave or else you could quit. Overall, Edgar Mitchell possessed bravery and dedication due to the tough choices and experiences he went through.

From the Navy, Mitchell spent years flying planes and saving lives by supporting his allies. He never let anyone change his thoughts or opinions. Edgar Mitchell did what he loved and did not realize how big of an impact he made. He used his dedication not just for himself, but for others as well. Not only did he show bravery throughout his life, he also started an institute to directly help people in need. He portrays a totally selfless person whose dedication and bravery affected others in a positive manner, and that is why Edgar Mitchell shows that he is a hero.
