Emmit Smith is one of the greatest persons to ever play football. He is a very talented person, he has accomplished many things during his football career, and is still going. Emmitt received his degree in Public Recreation from the University of Florida in May 1996. He and wife Pat live in Addison, TX, with their daughters, Rheagen and Jasmin, and son Emmitt James Smith IV who was born on May 15, 2002, Smith's 33rd birthday.
Emmitt Smith plays football on the Dallas Cowboys. He has played with the Cowboys for 13 years. He weighs 212 pounds and his height is 5'9. His football jersey number is 22 and there team color is blue, white, and silver. He attended college at Florida State University. He went there for 3 years and then was drafted to the Dallas Cowboys and has been with that team since he was drafted. While Emmitt was playing in college he had broken many records. During his seasons with the Florida Gators, Emmitt had established 58 school records in three seasons, including a career rushing mark of 3,928 yards. He passed the 1,000 mark in his seventh game, that's earlier than any player in college history. In 1989, Emmitt set a school record, 1,599 yards rushing for the season. In three seasons he became the fifth leading all-time rusher.
Emmitts career rushing total in the NFL is 15,166. That has him trailing the Hall of Famer Walter Payton who has 16,726. Emmitt is the NFL's career rushing touchdowns leader with 148 touchdowns. He has won 3 Superbowls. Out of those three Superbowl's, Emmitt was Superbowl MVP in 1993. Emmitt has been selected to the pro bowl nine times, that is more than any other offensive football in history. Emmitt is also the first player in history with five straight seasons with over 1,400 yards rushing. He also averaged 7.8 yards-per-carry, ran for over 100 yards 45 times and recorded only six fumbles.
Emmitt Smith has rushed for over 100 yards against 21 of the 30 NFL teams he has faced. Also, he has rushed for 2,384 yards against the Philidelphia Eagles in his 13-year career, that is his best against any single opponent. He has only missed just four career games due to injury. One of Smith's main focusses off the field is working with and aiding youth and children. In July 2002, he was presented the Children's Medical / Athlete Role Model Award from the Dallas All-Sport Association. Emmitt has also hosted an annual "Feed The Children" holiday food drive, which supported over 3,000 families in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas. In May 1994, a celebrity 25th birthday party was held for Emmitt with proceeds from a fundraising auction given to the "I Have A Dream" Foundation. Smith also plans to auction off special collection of his touchdown footballs to raise money for a chairty.
Emmith Smith is not only a great football player, but a great person too. He has done so much for other people around him, and he does not like to see others suffer. Emmitt will be selected into the Hall of Fame after he decides to retire.
