Imagine being determined to fight for civil rights. That’s what John Lewis did, he fought for equality and for the mistreatment of people. It took a lot of bravery to do this, which is why he's considered a hero.
John Lewis was born on February 21 1940, spending his childhood on a farm with his brothers and sisters. He missed a lot of education to work for the farm. Then when he started to listen to Martin Luther King Jr he started to speak up for civil rights, which showed determination. After he spoke up “Bloody Sunday” happened. John Lewis got arrested 40 times and suffered many beatings and severe injuries. John Lewis responded by saying that violence was not the solution to winning equality.
John Lewis fought for civil rights for everyone, causing people and colleges and universities to honor him by giving the Martin Luther King Jr. Non Violent Noble Peace Prize. People who suffered and weren’t treated unfairly got helped by people like him. For him to act in peace, he realized that he got denied from things he wanted to do, so from all the negatives he found a positive and was determined to fight for a change.
John Lewis showed bravery and he was so determined to create equality between people. He shows people to not give up on things, because you can make a change to the world.
