My painting is based on the concept of self-expression being a hero. Being able to express our emotions in so many different forms like art, poetry, music, dancing, film and many other art forms, gives us an escape from harsh reality that we face day to day and saves us from the darkness of our own minds. I chose to depict a singer because most people listen to music every day and have a very strong emotional connection to music. All of the colours and patterns that surround her represent the power of true expression in any form
