Science Hero: Margaret D. Lowman

I think she's a hero because she assesed the rain forest canopy with all the dangers there. She did it even knowing that she might get fatally injured. She also made people appreciate the rain forest more.

Science Hero: France Anne Cordova

Dr. France Cordova of California, in my opinion, deserves the recognition she gets from people who know her or have herd of her. Cordova has not only received a B.A. from Stanford University and a Ph. D in Physics from the California Institute of Technology, but has also received NASA's Distinguished Service Medal, their highest medal, and has become the first youngest, and the first woman to ever be promoted as NASA's Chief Scientist. Besides her highest honors, Cordova has also had some great achievements. For example, she is now a Professor of Physics at the University of California at Santa Barbara, she has worked with NASA's Constellation X Mission, and Europe's X-ray Multi-Mirror mission. These, as well as others, are the reasons why I believe Dr. France Cordova can be a "hero". I was really amazed at how much this young, Hispanic, woman could actually acomplished. For once I did not read about a women being pregnant, having to marry young, droping out of school, and having to live on the streets. Hopefully she can encourage a lot of kids.

The name of my hero is France Anne Cordova Ph.D. She is the first youngest person, and the only woman to hold a position NASA named Chief of Scientists. She developed and initiated a novel process that nourishes new thought and intellectual inquiry. The reason why I choose her was because I'am very pleased and encouraged that women can are also able to accomplish our goals if we put our minds to it.

France Anne Cordova is the joungest and the only woman in NASA to be a Chief Scientist. She is alos the group leader of Los Alamos National Laboratory. Dr. Cordova is also the recipient of the NASA's distinguished service medal; it's the highest honor of Loyola Marymount University.

She is a great model for all children growing up with a dream to be someone. She was able to become the youngest person and only woman to arrive to the position of Chief Scientist at NASA, in the year 2000.

She worked as a staff scientist and Deputy Group leader of space astronomy and a astrophisics group. She also earn he B.A. degree in English and he Ph.D. in Physics.

Science Hero: Jennifer Trosper

Jennifer Trosper was born on August 1, 1968, in a place called Fostoria, Ohio. Ms. Trosper went to MIT and earned a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering. Ms. Trosper has worked on two of the Mar's missions. She was an engineer on the robotic arm of the Mar's Rover. Before that she was an flight director on the Mar's Pathfinder mission.

Ms. Trosper is a hero/role model because she is a women how became sucessful. She is an example to all young women who wants to do anything that seems to be male dominate. No matter what faced her she went on and faced it and she reached what she wanted.

Science Hero: Susan Athey

I consider Dr.Susan Athey a heroine because she will facilitate the world of microeconomics and is a great heroine for young girls.

As a student in microeconomics Dr. Athey exceeded what was expected of her. She came up with a microecomic theory under ecomics of uncertainty that may change the field of economics and eventually help guide public policy. She derived that discrimination in the work place suggest that businesses may achieve higher profits in the future by diversifying management of that sort today.

Dr. Athey is a great role model for young girls today since she entered Stanford as a graduate student at the age of 20 and got her masters in her proffesion at age 25. Now a PHD she currently is a co-editor of the "Journal of Economics and Management Strategy" and teaches intermediate Microeconomics at M.I.T.

Dr. Athey is a hero to me because she reflects my own personal views, views that address the need for diversity in the work place. As a microeconomics student, Dr. Athey went above and beyond what was needed of her, and with that, gained very valuable knowledge. She learned the benefits of diversity of races and sexes in the workplace, and how this can actually benefit a company. It is because of this mindset that I believe Dr. Susan Athey is a hero(ine) and a rolemodel for the youth of today and tomorrow.

Dr. Susan Athey is a great role model for young women because she completed three majors, economics, mathematics, and computer science. Computer science is something I would like to major in and she, as a women, inspires me to put more effort on that goal I would like to accomplish. Dr. Athey is my hero and I admire her for that.

Science Hero: Daniel Kaufman

Daniel Kaufman, an assistant at the UCLA School of Medicine has come up with a new idea for a Pre-diagnostic test for diabetes. He also came up with the prevention for the diabetes. Dr. Kaufman and his assistants studied this on animals such as mice. In order to test it on mice they had to put the protein of Glutamic Acid Dcarboxylase (GAD). It did work on the mice. Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase it's hard to make it said Dr. Daniel Kaufman.

Daniel Kaufman has helped many people and helped prevent the Diagnose-diabetes. He was also the first one to clone the GAD gene. He cloned it because of the importance of the brain. He and other people like Dr. Daniel Kaufman is involve with the association of diabetes. He helped by supporting the association that he is involved with and it made a difference.

Dr. Daniel Kaufman won many awards of achievement. He did what he wanted to do. He was awarded with the 1995 Young Investigator Award and Frontier of Science Award. He was recognized for what he did. He was a member of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation,American DiabetesAssociation, UCLA Brain Research Institute, and UCLA Molecular Biology Institute.

I consider Dr. Daniel Kaufman a hero. I consider him as hero because he has help people from diabetes. I think he makes a great hero to everybody who has diabetes that had asked his help for preventing diabetes.

Well the reason that i would think that Dr. Daniel Kaufman would be a hero or role model would be because he did many discoveries in his line of work. He made a type of substance would help prevent juvenile diabetes. It also helps type one diabetes.

Dr. Kaufman is a man who made a big step to further the prevention of diabetes in humans. What he has done in the medicine field will help those who suffer with diabetes and also educate people, even more about how the disease's research is progressing.

Daniel Kaufman is my hero because his work was very important to the field of diabetes. I think his pill will help prevent a lot of people from getting diabetes. As well as help cure patients who already have it. Thanks to him, some people can live a normal, or close to normal life.

Dr. Daniel Kaufman has recently found a way to prevent diabetes, especially with juveniles. He has discovered a protein, which he has experimented with mice, and from his studies, it shows that this GDA protein does prevent juveniles diabetes.

Science Hero: Marcus Hannah

Dr. Hannah was the co-founder of Silicon graphics. The company was the leader in 3D computer garphics. The 3D computer graphics werer used in Jurassic Park and T-2

Dr. Hannah is my hero in electronics, he was also associated in the making of Nintendo graphics.

Mark Hannah is my hero becasue he develops graphics for video games and movies. He had to work hard to get where he is now, he is the Vice President of Technology Development.

Science Hero: Steve Wozniak

Steve Wozniak was the creater of Apple Computers. He started with a simple game and ended with a huge company of computers. He found ways to create his company without money stopping him. That is why he is my hero.

My hero is Steve Wozniak beacuse he was the one that built the Apple I and the Apple II (to which we still use today). Steve Wozniak built the Apple II because he wanted to improve tehnology back then (after he built the AppleI). Another reason that Steve is my hero is because after that he retired he started teaching students about computer skills. He also started donating computer labs. I think that a hero is a perosn that helps the community to which Steve Wozniak fits that the description.

Science Hero: E. Clayton Teague

Well i think Dr. E. Clayton Teague is a hero because i admire how he has his Ph. D. degree in physics from the University of North Texas. B.S. and M.S. degree in physics from Georgia Institute of Technology. I also admire how he and his team came up with the M3. Which is really useful now because the M3 is a nanometer-level accuracy over 50 times 50 millimeter area. i think that is so good because its so useful now. I think he is a person you could admire because if u read his web page he is a very interesting person to read about.

Science Hero: Martin Schwab

Dr. Martin Schwab is a hero because his research led to the identification of growth inhibiting substances in the central nervous system. His work still continues with the development of antibodies that allow new growth and regeneration.
