Have you ever wanted to be the first president of the USA? Or sign the Constitution? Well George Washington did all this and more! He had an average childhood and personal life, he had obstacles to face, he had big accomplishments too, and he also had heroic virtues.

There is not a lot on George Washington's childhood or personal life. George Washington was born in Westmoreland Country, VA, on Feb. 22, 1732 or as some people might know Feb. 11, 1732. He was the eldest child of about 10 children. 2 of which were his half-brothers. 3 of which were his brothers and sister that did not make it to adulthood. The 2 half-brothers were of his father's first wife the rest of which were of his father's 2nd wife. Then in 1759 George Washington married Martha Washington

George Washington faced many obstacles in his life. First of all he was torn between fighting for his friends or for his home country. He also had to manage his life when he was appointed Commander in Chief of the Colonial Army. He also had to choose between the patriot cause or stay with his home country. He had a difficult time choosing but in the end, he joined the patriot cause instead.

George Washington had a lot of really big accomplishments in his life. He was elected the 1st president of the USA. This happened to him because he was a Founding Father of the USA. He was even Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. All these things are really hard to accomplish back then. So it was a special thing for him. Because of this he got respect when he was president.

George Washington had some heroic virtues too. George Washington was practical, brave, and he was courageous. He showed that he was practical by thinking things through when he was president. It showed and now because he was practical the country is better than it would have been if he did was not practical. He was brave when he had to cross a river and a battlefield just to give someone a message. He did this in the dark of the night when everyone else was afraid to. Finally he had courage when he had to ride through gunfire to rally all of his troops. I think these things are perfect examples of being practical, brave, and showing courage.

He fought  for a new cause instead of staying with his home country. He did not change sides even though he saw all kinds of battle and fights. He saw destruction and sadness everywhere he went. He fought and got rewarded from it and spent the rest of his life working to make the country better. He made a difference in my life because he had a big part in creating my country and my home. He showed me that even one person can make a big difference in the world. Even if you're not a big deal you should still try to make a difference. Do you want to make a difference in your community?
