Gerty Theresa Cori

My hero is Gerty Cori, the scientist who elucidated the mechanism of energy storage and consumption in the body and became the first woman to win the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Although she and her husband built the foundations of modern medicine, she was only given the title of "assistant" to him simply because she was a woman, and her contributions were overlooked many times. However, she never gave up on her research, and continued to achieve results tenaciously, eventually leaving her name in history. I was taken aback by the fact that she continued going to the lab until the end of her life, even though she was ill. Her way of life teaches us the importance of believing in our own value and continuing to work hard even in the face of adversity. She stuck to her beliefs even under unequal situation, and she is a true hero and a guide in life to me.
